Barcelona midfielder Gavi called into Spain squad

Barcelona midfielder Gavi (17) has been called into the Spain squad by Luis Enrique.

If the youngster makes his debut on Wednesday with Spain, he will be the youngest player in history to do so at the age of 17 years and 62 days old.

The record has been set by Angel Zubieta’s 17 years and 284 days. Gavi’s Barcelona team-mate Ansu Fati did it at the age of 17 years and 308 days.

Spain face Euro 2020 winners Italy in the semi-finals of the Nations League on October 6 at San Siro in Milan.
