The board at La Liga champions Barcelona are working on an audacious deal to bring Inter Milan star Federico Dimarco to Catalunya’s capital ahead of the close of the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have confirmed negotiations between the parties over an exchange involving Blaugrana full-back Alejandro Balde.
Defender Balde has of course emerged as a leading figure in the media headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last week. After being left out of Hansi Flick’s squad list for Barcelona’s season opener against Elche, the 22-year-old was swiftly tipped for a Camp Nou exit.
Balde is considered as being some way down the left-back pecking order at Barca at present, behind both summer signing João Cancelo and breakthrough youngster Xavi Espart.
Deco and the transfer team at the Camp Nou have therefore kicked into gear efforts to add a more reliable, proven performer to Flick’s ranks.
As per a report from Sport:
‘Barça and Inter Milan are negotiating an exchange of players: Alejandro Balde would go to Inter and Federico Dimarco would arrive at the Catalan club to strengthen the left side of the defence.’
It is added that ‘the operation will be very complicated’, with Inter yet to give the green light to the departure of a player who racked up a spectacular eight goals and 18 assists in all competitions last season.
Negotiations, though, are nevertheless in full swing.
