Atlético Madrid in ‘active talks’ over deal for Juventus star

The board at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid are currently engaged in ongoing transfer discussions with their counterparts at Italian outfit Juventus. This comes with a view to a deal for Bianconeri frontman Jonathan David.

Striker David has for his part been linked with a move away from Juventus throughout the summer window to date.

After a largely underwhelming debut campaign in Turin following his free agent arrival 12 months ago, the signing of Randal Kolo Muani has since knocked the Canadian international down the centre-forward pecking order in Luciano Spalletti’s squad.

Juve, as a result, appear open to a sale, or potentially even a year-long loan, for the right price. And as alluded to above, currently working to satisfy the demands of the Allianz Stadium hierarchy with a view to as much are Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid.

As per a report from transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, amid an ongoing search for fresh blood up top with a view to the season ahead:

‘Atlético Madrid maintain active talks with Jonathan David’s camp and also in direct conversations with Juventus. David, one of the top three names on Atléti shortlist for new striker before the window ends. The outcome will depend on the formula.’
