Barcelona are keen to register Jules Koundé today or tomorrow so that he can play against Valladolid on Sunday, report Mundo Deportivo.
The Blaugrana are working on a solution that will see Koundé make an appearance for the club without having to sell Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Memphis Depay.
The offloading of Samuel Umtiti to Lecce has helped lower the club’s wage bill as some of the variables in his contract will be assumed by the Italian club.
The registration of Koundé will allow Xavi to utilise a wider selection of defenders. He has been using Andreas Christensen and Eric Garcia as his two centre-backs, with Gerard Piqué not making a single appearance so far.
Despite the Memphis Depay transfer to Juventus falling through, Barcelona are still in talks with Chelsea over the sale of Aubameyang. The two sides are yet to agree a fee, but the 33-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the Premier League club.
