Barcelona hold meeting with agents of Liverpool star Luis Díaz

Joan Laporta, president of La Liga giants Barcelona, recently sat down for a meeting with the agent of Liverpool star Luis Díaz.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Monday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

Amid their ongoing search for reinforcements out wide with a view to next season, the Barcelona transfer team are understood to have earmarked Díaz as a prime target.

The Colombian, for his part, has looked back to his best in the colours of Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool of late, playing a central role in the Reds’ ongoing pursuit of Premier League glory.

In turn, Sport, citing sources at El Heraldo in Díaz’s home country of Colombia, have confirmed that Joan Laporta last week held a meeting with the representatives of the 27-year-old.

As much came with a view to gaining an understanding of the financial requirements likely to be involved in any deal for Díaz.

Safe to say, however, that the word passed on by Carlos Van Strahlen has since firmly extinguished any hope on Barca’s part of finding an agreement with Liverpool.

This comes amid confirmation that the Anfield hierarchy would demand a fee in excess of €100 million, likely to fall between €120 – €140 million, for their star wide-man.

Laporta, in turn, made clear to Van Strahlen that a transfer for his client to Catalunya is simply ‘unfeasible’.
