Barcelona fan group Boixos Nois leave 16 police officers injured after Napoli clash

An insight into the damage done by a group of ‘radical’ Barcelona supporters, prior to the club’s meeting with Napoli on Tuesday night, has today been provided.

Barca, of course, are fresh off booking the club’s place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Owing to a 3-1 return leg victory in Catalunya, Xavi’s troops clinched a 4-2 aggregate triumph, marching on to the last eight of Europe’s elite club competition in the process.

As much sparked understandably chaotic celebrations at Montjuïc, with the Blaugrana having not advanced as far in the Champions League since all the way back in the 2019/20 campaign.

As alluded to above, though, 24 hours on, and with the dust having now settled, it is developments prior to the action getting underway on Tuesday night which have found themselves front and centre in the headlines.

This comes amid confirmation that clashes between Barcelona supporters, and a group of police officers, left several of the latter with injuries.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, citing El País, ‘a Mossos d’Esquadra agent was injured in the Achilles tendon and fifteen others suffered bruises’.

Such injuries were picked up amid attempts to hold a contingent of Barca ultras – the Boixos Nois – at bay, as the supporters in question did their best to climb over the security fences around the perimeter of Montjuïc.

Though none of the individuals involved have yet been identified, a police investigation is ongoing.
