Barcelona equalled a historic Real Madrid record in win over Galatasaray

La Liga giants Barcelona joined arch rivals Real Madrid in the history books of Spanish football on Tuesday evening. This came courtesy of their latest triumph on the continent.

Hansi Flick’s Barca kicked their Champions League campaign back into gear last night, making the trip to Istanbul to lock horns with Turkish champions Galatasaray.

When all was said and done, the Blaugrana emerged comfortable victors, recovering from a goal down to triumph by four goals to one.

This kept alive what has been nothing short of a spectacular opening to the new campaign on Barcelona’s part, culminating in a flawless record.

All told, between La Liga and the Champions League, Flick and co. have now emerged victorious from all 10 of their fixtures in 2026/27. And as alluded to above, owing to as much, Barca have secured for themselves a piece of history.

As revealed by statistician Fran Martinez:

‘For the FIRST time in ALL its HISTORY, Barcelona wins the first 10 matches of a season (10/10). It had only happened THREE times before in Spanish football:

  • 1949/50 Racing (in 2nd)
  • 1961/62 Real Madrid
  • 1968/69 Real Madrid’
