Barcelona could have a surprise inclusion in their squad to face Valencia

Barcelona could yet be boosted by the inclusion of a key member of the club’s midfield ranks in their matchday squad to face Valencia this weekend.

Barca, of course, are primed to kick the club’s new campaign into gear on Saturday night.

As much comes by way of a trip to Mestalla, to take on the aforementioned Valencia.

New Blaugrana boss Hansi Flick will head into proceedings understandably eager to get things off to a positive start, aware that his side simply cannot afford to drop too many points amid their efforts to wrestle back Spanish football supremacy from arch rivals Real Madrid.

And, in their endeavours towards as much, Barca could yet be boosted by the presence of a leading midfield figure.

The player in question? Pedri.

Youngster Pedri has for his part been sidelined since earlier this summer, owing to a knee injury suffered whilst lining out for Spain at Euro 2024.

Until this week, the 21-year-old was in turn considered as ruled out of Saturday’s Mestalla clash.

If the latest word stemming from the training ground in Catalunya’s capital is anything to go by, however, then as much may in fact not be as clear cut as previously thought.

As confirmed by Mundo Deportivo, Pedri took full part in the club’s training session on Thursday, alongside the rest of his teammates.

The Spaniard is, in turn, considered as being on the verge of full fitness.

It remains to be seen whether his presence to face Valencia will be given the green light, but such a development looks considerably more likely now than it did mere days ago.
