La Liga giants Barcelona could announce the latest important contract extension in the club’s first-team ranks as early as this week. This comes amid the understanding that only the signature is missing from Marc Bernal’s new deal in Catalunya’s capital.
Youngster Bernal is one of a number of leading figures in Barcelona set to be rewarded with fresh terms over the weeks ahead.
Considered the long-term future of the engine room setup at the Spotify Camp Nou, the Spaniard, at just 19, is already a prominent figure in Hansi Flick’s senior ranks.
Across the early weeks of the new campaign, Bernal has been afforded minutes in every one of Barca’s nine fixtures between La Liga and the Champions League.
With his injury problems now firmly in the past, Deco and the Blaugrana brass therefore recently sat down with the midfielder’s entourage, to discuss the terms of a new-and-improved contract.
And as alluded to above, a definitive accord regarding as much has since been found. As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘Marc Bernal and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement to extend his contract until 2031 with a €500 million release clause. Only the paperwork and official notification remain to be signed. Both the club and the player are looking for the ideal date, which could be this week.’
