Barcelona confirm Raphinha injury as absence timeline outlined

Barcelona have this afternoon confirmed the nature of the injury suffered by Raphinha.

Wide-man Raphinha, of course, set pulses racing across the Barcelona fanbase late last night.

This came upon the Brazilian international limping out of the club’s Supercopa de España semi-final meeting with Osasuna.

Late in the first-half, the former Leeds United standout pulled up with what appeared to be a muscular complaint, before being hauled off for youngster Lamine Yamal.

Ahead of Sunday’s fast-approaching Super Cup finale showdown with Real Madrid, the Blaugrana had in turn been forced to wait with bated breath, for a more precise diagnosis of the problem.

And, as alluded to above, this afternoon, exactly that has been forthcoming.

As per an official statement across Barca’s website and social media platforms:

‘Tests carried out today have shown that Raphinha has a left hamstring injury. He is out and his recovery will determine his availability.’

Though Barcelona themselves have not provided an exact timeline for Raphinha’s likely return, ensuing reports, from Mundo Deportivo and more, point towards the 27-year-old aiming to be back on the pitch in time for the Catalans’ Champions League Last-16 first-leg meeting with Napoli in a little over a month’s time.
