Barcelona boss Xavi hands training chance to 2 more players amid absence of internationals

Barcelona head coach Xavi has this week afforded a chance to impress to two more members of the club’s reserve team.

As much, of course, comes fresh off a mass exodus of Barca stars, who on Monday linked up with their respective national squads across the globe.

The break has left Xavi with a threadbare selection of first-team players, namely Iñaki Peña, Iñigo Martínez, Marcos Alonso, Sergi Roberto, Oriol Romeu and Vitor Roque, as well as the recovering Ferran Torres.

To make up the numbers, the Blaugrana’s headmaster, as a result, has called upon a number of youth team players over the last couple of days.

Up-and-coming trio Ander Astralaga, Marc Casadó and Jaume Cuéllar have been handed the chance to test their talents against the club’s senior stars thus far this week.

And, as per a report from Diario Sport, today, two more fresh faces were spotted amongst Xavi’s ranks.

The pair in question? Pocho Román and Edu Sánchez, of Rafa Márquez’s Barca Atlètic.

20-year-old Román is an exciting attacking prospect, whilst 18-year-old Sánchez – a youth international with Spain – generally lines out at left-back.
