Former Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos has today moved to send a message of support to one-time Blancos teammate Thibaut Courtois.
This, of course, comes fresh off a day to forget for the Belgian international.
On the verge of securing his long-awaited return to full fitness after suffering a ruptured ACL all the way back in August, Courtois was dealt the most untimely of setbacks.
After pulling up in training at Valdebebas clutching his knee, the former Chelsea man was eventually forced to limp to the dressing room, in evident distress.
And ensuing medical tests went on to reveal a ‘ruptured internal meniscus in Courtois’ right knee’.
The 32-year-old, having failed to take to the pitch on a single occasion across the season to date, is now expected to see out the 2023/24 campaign with a grand total of zero games played.
As much comes as a heavy blow to a player widely considered to have been in the finest stretch of his career, positioning himself firmly in the conversation for world football’s finest in his role.
Messages of support, as a result, have poured in for Courtois over the course of the last 24 hours, as players, managers and fans alike wish the Belgian all the best in his latest comeback attempt.
And, as alluded to above, joining the list of well wishers today was a former teammate of the shot-stopper, in Madrid.
In a post on his official Instagram account, Real legend Sergio Ramos, currently plying his trade with Sevilla, unveiled a photo of Courtois, accompanied by the caption:
‘Much encouragement, Thibu! All my energy and my love’
