Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an update on the wellbeing of star goalkeeper Joan García. This comes after the Spaniard set alarm bells ringing in Catalunya’s capital on Wednesday evening.
Barcelona were back in action on the La Liga front a short time ago, welcoming newly-promoted Racing Santander to the Spotify Camp Nou.
When all was said and done on another night to remember for the Blaugrana amid an explosive opening to the season, they emerged on the right side of a 7-2 result.
An otherwise positive day’s work, however, was soured by a potential setback on the personnel front.
On the stroke of the interval, whilst attempting to retrieve the ball, the aforementioned Joan slipped on the wet turf, in the process picking up what appeared at the time to be a muscular problem.
From here, the shot-stopper was not risked for the 2nd-half, replaced in the hosts’ goal by Wojciech Szczęsny.
Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle, Hansi Flick was therefore asked for the latest on the wellbeing of his no.1. And Barcelona’s headmaster went on to explain:
”Joan had some knee issues. We have to wait to know exactly what is going on.”
