Barcelona & Atlético Madrid in advanced talks for swap deal involving Saúl Ñíguez & Antoine Griezmann

Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are in advanced talks for a swap deal involving Saúl Ñíguez and Antoine Griezmann, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Griezmann could return to Atlético after two seasons at Barça. Saúl did not feature as much as he would have liked last season and is reportedly seeking a move away from the Wanda Metropolitano. Liverpool and Chelsea are also reportedly interested in the Spanish midfielder.

Due to Barcelona’s current financial state, they are ready to let the French forward go, in another attempt to cut wages at the club.

Griezmann is currently on holiday in Ibiza, waiting for the call from Atlético Madrid, according to Cadena COPE. He is on the holiday island with Atleti captain and close friend Koke.

The deal would be a great move for Atlético, who would see the return of one of their best ever forwards. Griezmann would earn around €13 million net per season.

Barcelona, for their part, would save the difference in salary between Griezmann and Saúl – around €12 million gross per season – which is approximately half of what the Frenchman earns.
