The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona have added another name to their list of potential defensive signings, ahead of the fast-approaching transfer deadline.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Tuesday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
After previously looking well covered in the position, Barcelona are now understood to be actively seeking out the addition of a new central defender for the season ahead.
As much comes after the respective long-term injuries of Ronald Araújo and Andreas Christensen were this week added to by Eric García.
With youngster Mika Faye’s exit having been sanctioned, too, the Blaugrana, all of a sudden, are therefore looking alarmingly short on options at the heart of defence.
Deco and co, in turn, have begun seeking out late-window reinforcements.
And, on Tuesday, an insight into some of the leading names on the Camp Nou wishlist has been provided.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘Cristhian Mosquera (Valencia) and Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen) have been added to the list of possible reinforcements.’
Word stemming from France, meanwhile, points towards a third profile as being watched closely by Barca, in Mohamed Simakan.
In fact, according to FootMercato, first contacts have already been initiated with the versatile stopper’s club, RB Leipzig.
Any deal for Simakan coming to fruition before Friday’s Spanish transfer deadline looks highly unlikely, however, with the brass at the Red Bull Arena demanding a sum in the region of €50 million to sanction a deal.
