Barcelona target demands ‘guarantees’ ahead of looking at other destinations

A leading member of the transfer wishlist at La Liga giants Barcelona is seeking out guarantees from the club, when it comes to their plans to bring him in.

That’s according to transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio, who points towards Federico Chiesa as the player in question.

Chiesa’s name has of course emerged as an increasingly prominent one in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last week.

This comes amid mounting reports that the Juventus star – out of the project under Thiago Motta in Turin – has been identified as an ideal low-cost, high-reward signing by the brass at the Camp Nou.

Chiesa’s terms with Juventus are due to expire next summer, with the 26-year-old therefore understood to be available for a cut-price fee.

The player himself has long given his availability to the Blaugrana, whom it is said he would be happy to line out for.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word on the situation to have surfaced on Tuesday is anything to go by, then Chiesa will not wait forever for Barca to step up to the plate.

In fact, quite the opposite.

As per the aforementioned Gianluca Di Marzio:

‘The Juventus attacker and his agent Fali Ramadani will wait another day to see if Barcelona will be able to sign the 1997-born player.’

Should ‘guarantees’ regarding as much not be provided by then, Chiesa will begin looking towards alternative options, including Premier League heavyweights Liverpool.
