Atlético Madrid star sends Julián Alvarez plea to club’s fans

Atlético Madrid captain Koke has this week sent a request the way of the club’s supporters. This comes with a view to their treatment of teammate Julián Alvarez.

Frontman Alvarez is of course fresh off an altogether difficult opening to the new campaign.

After seeing his public plea to depart Spain’s capital during the summer rejected by those in the boardroom at the Metropolitano, the Argentine has been targeted in ruthless fashion by the Atlético faithful.

In each of his appearances in La Liga this season, Alvarez has been the subject of heavy boos, jeers and whistles from his own fans.

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of Atléti’s Champions League defeat at the hands of Liverpool on Wednesday, the aforementioned Koke therefore made use of the opportunity to throw his backing behind his teammate.

In quotes gathered by Movistar, as cited by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Rojiblancos captain Koke pleaded:

“Leave Julián Álvarez calm, in peace. We are all tired of that. Let the boy play, enjoy, do his job. I hope you can let him relax and stay in peace.”
