Atlético Madrid star agrees to Serie A switch

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid is all set for a move to Italy, to link up with Serie A outfit AS Roma.

This comes amid the understanding that an agreement has been put in place between the two clubs regarding the imminent transfer of Nahuel Molina.

Full-back Molina has for his part been heavily linked with a move away from Spain’s capital across the summer to date. After falling out of favour under compatriot Diego Simeone, a number of clubs have in turn expressed an interest in his signature.

Molina, after all, is a World Cup-winning defender, boasting ample experience of European football.

This week, a new suitor emerged in the race for the 28-year-old, as the aforementioned Roma threw their hat in the ring following the departure of Zeki Çelik for Juventus.

And as alluded to above, after a fresh round of talks between the parties on Wednesday, an accord has now been struck. As per a report from market insider Fabrizio Romano:

‘AS Roma agree €18m package deal for Nahuel Molina from Atlético Madrid, here we go! Verbal agreement also with Molina on the personal terms as Atlético were pushing for his exit, now all done with Roma.’
