Atlético Madrid representatives in Portugal to discuss two summer signings

Representatives from La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have this weekend flown out to Portugal, to ramp up efforts towards adding to the club’s squad this summer.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing sources in Portugal, who point towards Atlético as having set their sights on a pair of players.

First up comes Rodrigo Gomes.

Versatile full-back/winger Gomes, for his part, is fresh off a scintillating campaign in his home country.

After linking up with Estoril on loan from Braga, the 20-year-old went on to rack up a head-turning nine goals and eight assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.

And as much, it would appear, proved enough to pique the attentions of the aforementioned Atlético, who are pushing to close a deal for Gomes for a fee in the region of €15 million.

The Rojiblancos’ endeavours in Portugal, however, will not end there.

This comes with Diego Simeone and co. also keen on the signature of Francisco Conceição.

Conceição enjoyed an altogether productive campaign in the Primeira Liga in 2023/24, too.

From his berth out wide, the gifted attacker, still just 21, featured on 43 occasions, notching eight goals and eight assists along the way.

With a reasonable release clause set at €30 million in his Porto contract, a whole host of clubs from across the continent are understood to have set their sights on Conceição.

Atlético, though, hope to beat out the competition, by way of an imminent offer.
