Atlético Madrid are in need of midfield reinforcements and Relevo are reporting that they are in the hunt for Tottenham player, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg. The midfielder will not be easy to acquire as he is one of Tottenham’s key players, and he has two years remaining on his contract with Daniel Levy notoriously a tough negotiator.
Atlético are said to be keen regardless of the difficulties and feel that they can lure the Dane to Madrid. Højbjerg is as reliable as they come, having started at least 30 league games in every Premier League season that he’s played in since 2018-19. At only 27 years old, he is at a prime age and still has the capacity to improve.
Tottenham have been poor over the last number of seasons, but Højbjerg has remained a consistent performer and never dipped below the level that a team like Atlético would expect from him.
The midfielder can also provide a threat going forward, having registered four goals and five assists for Spurs in the league in the season just gone. This pursuit is likely to last a while due to Levy’s tough negotiating, but if Atlético pull it off they will have a solid midfielder for at least the next five years.
