Atlético Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has this week sent a message of warning the way of La Liga rivals Barcelona.
This comes amid the latter’s ongoing pursuit of Rojiblancos standout Julián Alvarez.
Frontman Alvarez has of course seen his name dominate the media headlines across Spain for several months now.
Amid their ongoing search for reinforcements up top with a view to next season, the brass at Barcelona are understood to have identified the Argentine international as their undisputed priority target.
Ahead of the predicted departure of Robert Lewandowski, Alvarez is viewed as the perfect fit for Hansi Flick’s all-action attacking setup.
If the latest comments on the part of the aforementioned Enrique Cerezo are anything to go by, however, then Barcelona need not get their hopes up when it comes to actually striking a deal for the former Manchester City man.
Drawn on the future of his side’s attacking talisman during an exchange with the media on Wednesday, Atlético’s president assured:
“Julián is an Atlético de Madrid player. He is today, he will be tomorrow and next season. Insisting on this (Barcelona links) again seems to me, really hurtful.”
