Atlético Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus interested in Valencia’s Carlos Soler

Valencia majority shareholder Peter Lim wants to sell Valencia’s key players Gonçalo Guedes, Carlos Soler and, if possible, José Luis Gayà before 30 June, according to Superdeporte.

The best positioned of the clubs interested in Soler is Atlético Madrid. Atlético have known about the player’s contractual situation for months, and have already had initial talks with Valencia.

Jorge Mendes’ relationship with Atlético’s majority shareholder Miguel Ángel Gil Marín plays in Atlético’s favour, as does the player’s opinion.

Soler has never hidden the credit he gives to Diego Simeone’s work. On two occasions he has publicly expressed this recognition.

“Playing at Valencia is not easy, you are looking for stability like at Atlético,” Soler said previously.

Soler is also on Barcelona’s agenda. Xavi Hernández likes him as well as former Valencia director Mateu Alemany.

Former Valencia president Anil Murthy travelled to Barcelona on 17 May to offer Carlos Soler and José Luis Gayà to Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

Barça’s response was clear: The player is of interest, but the club cannot afford to sign him because it does not have the revenue and it has a financial fair play issue.

Juventus are also interested in signing Soler.
