On Thursday, Spain U18 and U19 international Assane Diao became the youngest player to make his first-team debut for Real Betis since Alvaro Vadillo did so on 27 August 2011 at 16 years, 11 months and 15 days, report MD.
Diao was one of six new additions to the starting eleven for the Betis team that drew 1-1 with Granada. Diao, who made his debut last week in Glasgow, playing the final minutes of the Europa League match against Rangers, is currently 18 years and 21 days old, with his debut in Primera coming at Granada’s Los Cármenes stadium, the same stadium where Vadillo made his debut under Pepe Mel, in the first match of the 2011-12 season.
And Diao put Betis ahead with a superb left-footed strike from distance to give Betis the lead on the night before Granada equalised through the impressive Lucas Boyé.
