Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta spotted at Real Madrid vs Atlético youth derby

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has been spotted in attendance at Ciudad Real Madrid on Sunday evening.

This comes ahead of the incoming derby showdown between Real, and city rivals Atlético.

As Diego Simeone’s senior side prepare for a highly-anticipated meeting with Barcelona later tonight, Atlético’s U19s have made the short trip to Valdebebas, to take on their bitter neighbours.

The matchup marks a high-profile one for a whole host of reasons, chiefly the fact that it marks a top-of-the-table clash in the División de Honor Juvenil de Fútbol.

In addition, it pits former Spanish international teammates Fernando Torres (Atléti) and Álvaro Arbeloa (Real) against one another on the sidelines.

And, as alluded to above, evidently keen to get an up close and personal look at the latest up-and-coming talents in the capital of his home country is Mikel Arteta.

As confirmed by the reliable Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, Arsenal’s headmaster is in attendance in the stands at Ciudad Real Madrid this evening.
