Antoine Griezmann has returned to Atlético Madrid on a two-year loan deal. After the second year ends, a buy option will come into effect, which is not an obligation but depends on the number of games played by the French forward in that period of time.
The option to buy the player back from Barcelona is €40 million, according to Marca. Atlético sold the 30-year-old for €120 million in 2019. Now, two years later, they will get him back for a total of €50 million if they eventually decide to sign him (€40 million to buy plus €10 million for the two-year loan).
Griezmann will return from international duty with France to join Atlético, where he was a key man from 2014 until 2019. He left for the Camp Nou outfit and after two years in the shadow of Leo Messi, he returns to the Wanda Metropolitano to become another key signing for the La Liga champions.
The former number 7 returns to add to the competition in a forward line that already has Luis Suárez, Joao Félix, Ángel Correa, and new arrival Matheus Cunha.
Griezmann will wear the number 8 shirt that was previously worn by Saúl.
