Antoine Griezmann: “The coach and my teammates need me to be at this level.”

Last night Atlético Madrid defeated Real Betis in La Liga thanks to a brace from Antoine Griezmann:

In his post-match interview that appeared on Marca, the Frenchman evaluated Los Colchoneros’ performance:

“We lost two points against Rayo at home and we had to win here. It was difficult for us at the beginning, but we worked very well defensively. The second goal gave us peace of mind and then Fekir’s goal, which was impressive, got us into trouble.”

Griezmann also discussed the importance of giving everything for the team:

“I try to do everything I can to improve and help the team as much as possible. Working defensively and with goals and assists. I feel very good and I will continue like this. The coach and my teammates need me to be at this level. I’m going to try to leave everything on the field.”

Atlético Madrid need a good performance from the 31-year-old in the Champions League midweek as they face Bayer Leverkusen in the fifth round of the competition’s group stages.
