Another Barcelona star reveals hope of Xavi stay

Yet another member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Thursday revealed his hope that, when all is said and done, head coach Xavi will go on to extend his time with the club beyond the summer.

As things stand, Xavi’s stint in the dugout at Barcelona is of course set to come to an end upon the season’s close.

This comes after the Spaniard, back in January, announced his decision not to see out the final year of his contract with the club.

And though Xavi himself has remained steadfast in his stance that his mind will not be changed under any circumstances, the Blaugrana brass have nevertheless continued to publicly reiterate their desire for the club’s former midfield maestro to reconsider.

Such calls on the part of Joan Laporta and Rafa Yuste have been echoed by several key members of the playing setup in Catalunya’s capital, too, eager to make clear that Xavi maintains the full backing of his squad.

And, as alluded to above, on Thursday, yet another Barcelona star has joined the ‘Xavi in’ chorus.

Speaking in an interview with Jijantes, João Félix, amongst a host of other topics, was drawn on the impending exit of his manager.

And though his own future in Catalunya beyond the summer remains unclear, frontman Félix was adamant that Xavi is the right man to lead the Blaugrana forward into next season:

“I hope for Xavi to change his mind and stay at Barça. He has great ideas and he’s a young coach. Barça fans really love and rate him.”
