Sevilla seeking ‘David Fofana profile’ for summer market

An insight into the plans of the powers that be at La Liga outfit Sevilla to reinforce the club’s frontline with a view to next season has today been forthcoming online.

The info comes courtesy of Relevo, who point towards the Sevilla brass as having identified the ‘profile’ of player whom they are eager to add to Quique’s squad.

The Nervionenses, it is understood, hope to bring in a player with similar characteristics to Chelsea star David Fofana.

Striker Fofana, for his part, came close to making the move to The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán during the January transfer window.

The transfer ultimately collapsed, however, after Chelsea reached their maximum number of permitted loans to clubs outside of England.

The Ivorian, as a result, went on to link up with Burnley instead.

And though Sevilla are aware that the club’s financial constraints mean that a permanent move for Fofana in the summer is out of the question, they are eyeing an as-of-yet unidentified hitman boasting as similar a profile as possible.

That is, one ‘who, without being a technical marvel, gives continuity to the game, playing with his back turned and who needs few touches in the area to be decisive’.

It now remains to be seen just who fits the bill.
