André Gomes could link up with Rafa Benítez at Celta Vigo

Rafa Benítez could become the new manager of Celta Vigo after Carlos Carvalhal left the post earlier this summer. Superdeporte understand that Benítez is looking to sign a familiar face for his first piece of business at the club.

Portuguese midfielder André Gomes previously played under Benítez during his coaching spell at Everton, which was incidentally the last job the manager from Madrid was in.

Gomes, who is still under contract with Everton, enjoyed a loan spell in Ligue 1 with LOSC Lille last season where he scored three goals and provided two assists in 26 games. The 29-year-old has one more year left on his contract with the Merseyside club, and Celta are reportedly working to bring Gomes back to La Liga to accompany Benítez

Previously of Barcelona, Gomes is vastly experienced when it comes to Spanish football having played over 100 La Liga matches in spells at Valencia and Barça. The midfielder would ultimately leave Camp Nou for €25m in 2019 to join his current side.
