Alexia Putellas grabs a brace in Barcelona’s Champions League win over Real Madrid

European champions Barcelona came from a goal down to record a 3-1 win over Real Madrid at the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium in Madrid on Tuesday night.

Real Madrid led at half-time thanks to a goal from Olga Carmona after just eight minutes on the clock.

Madrid have never beaten Barcelona and Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas equalised for Barca from the penalty spot after a controversial VAR decision.

Claudia Pina then came off the bench to put Barcelona in front in the Spanish capital with a low drive from close range.

Putellas was played through in the 94th minute and delightfully dinked an effort over Misa in the Madrid goal to give the away side the win in the quarter-final first leg.

The second leg takes place in Barcelona next week. Tonight was the first ever Women’s Champions League El Clásico.
