4 Barcelona stars given training ground guard of honour by teammates

Four high-profile members of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona were afforded a guard of honour at the club’s training base on Friday.

Xavi’s squad, of course, have reconvened over the course of the last 24 hours.

After departing for duty with their respective national teams across all corners of the globe, Barca’s stars have now linked back up, ahead of a return to La Liga action this weekend.

First on the agenda ahead of the final stretch of the campaign is a meeting with Las Palmas on Saturday night.

In an effort to gain an insight into his players’ fitness levels, Xavi, in turn, put the Blaugrana’s squad through a preparatory training session on Friday.

Prior to as much getting underway, though, as alluded to above, a quartet of players were celebrated by their teammates.

Those in question? Robert Lewandowski, João Cancelo, Lamine Yamal, and Pau Cubarsí.

Frontman Lewandowski’s gesture came owing to the Polish veteran booking his spot at Euro 2024, with defender Cancelo having been given the medical green light following a recent health scare.

Attacking sensation Lamine, meanwhile, is fresh off a standing ovation at the Santiago Bernabéu, whilst fellow youngster Cubarsí, at just 17, was handed his first and 2nd caps for Spain over the international break.

Footage of the former pair’s guard of honour is showcased below, with Victor Navarro of Cope having confirmed that a similar gesture was afforded to Lamine and Cubarsí, too.
