Real Betis missing just one player for Girona trip

An insight into the personnel situation in Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis squad has come to the fore on Friday.

And the news will no doubt be met with a collective smile on the part of the Betis faithful.

This comes amid confirmation that, amid a season which has seen the Verdiblancos ravaged by injuries, just one member of their squad is expected to be unavailable for selection this weekend.

The player in question? Marc Bartra.

Defender Bartra, for his part, has been sidelined since all the way back in October, after being forced under the knife to solve an Achilles problem.

The former Barcelona man has made his return to the grass, but has not yet been medically cleared for matchday duties.

On the flip side, Marc Roca, who was forced to sit out Betis’ final outing prior to the international break, is, according to Mundo Deportivo, back in full training.

Add to this the return of all of Claudio Bravo, Germán Pezzella, Guido Rodríguez, Johnny Cardoso, Chadi Riad, Abde Ezzalzouli and Assane Diao from international duty, and Manuel Pellegrini will have decisions to make when it comes to whittling down his squad to the permitted 23 to face Girona on Sunday afternoon.
