2 La Liga clubs rival Barcelona in midfielder pursuit

La Liga champions Barcelona have been joined by a pair of Spanish top-flight rivals in the hunt to sign a member of the midfield ranks at relegated Girona. This comes amid confirmation of the competition for Azzedine Ounahi beginning to heat up.

Midfielder Ounahi is for his part widely expected to be on the move before the summer is out. Fresh off a fine showing at the World Cup with Morocco, it is seen as close to impossible that the 26-year-old will stick around to play 2nd tier football with Girona in 2026/27.

With as much in mind, the aforementioned Barcelona have over recent days been heavily linked with a move for Ounahi.

The Blaugrana are giving consideration to dipping into the market for reinforcements in the middle of the park following the long-term injury suffered by Frenkie de Jong. And Ounahi, reasonably priced and boasting stellar technical ability, is considered a legitimate option by those in the Camp Nou boardroom.

As alluded to above, though, Barca are far from the only ones interested. In fact, in La Liga alone, another two clubs have this week been tipped to launch assaults on the signature of the former Marseille talent.

As per a report from Diario Sport, amid respective midfielder searches, Real Betis and Deportivo La Coruña have set sights on Ounahi. The latter, though, are aware that a deal is likely well beyond their reach.
