A member of the attacking ranks in Luis de la Fuente’s Spain squad endured something of an outing to forget in the country’s downing of England on Saturday.
The player in question? Nico Williams.
Spain were of course back in action yesterday evening, making the trip to Wembley for their first official fixture since being crowned world champions this past summer.
The aforementioned Nico featured from the off in London, from his customary berth on the left flank. En route to an eventual 3-2 triumph for the visitors, however, the Athletic Club standout struggled badly in efforts to make an impact in the final third.
Whilst the likes of Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo were busy lighting up the pitch courtesy of flicks, tricks and direct goal contributions, Nico simply never got going.
And his shortcomings have since been firmly backed by the statistics, with the 24-year-old having managed the following against England:
