An Atlético Madrid spokesperson has on Wednesday fired an angry message the way of La Liga rivals Barcelona, regarding the situation of Julián Alvarez.
This comes fresh off the Blaugrana yet again publicly announcing their desire to bring the Argentine to Catalunya’s capital earlier today. Stopped by the media during an outing in the city of Barcelona, Joan Laporta confirmed:
“We are still very interested in Julián Alvarez. We would like our offer to be accepted, and we are doing so with the utmost respect for Atlético de Madrid.”
Safe to say, however, that this message has since not gone down at all well amongst those behind the scenes at the Metropolitano…
In fact, afforded the opportunity on Wednesday evening, Atlético made clear through a statement to Marca that there is precisely ‘0% chance’ of their star frontman being sold to Barca.
As cited by journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Rojiblancos announced:
“The player is being victimized, but the only victim of the Julián case is us.
“They have harmed us economically and socially. There is 0% chance of selling him to Barça. This situation is not about money, it’s about dignity. There is 0% chance of selling to Barça.
“Theres a campaign with many lies and half-truths. The only one who pays for this is Atlético.”
