Speaking to Movistar after Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Champions League first leg semi-final, Marcelo gave his thoughts after the final whistle.
“When we got going tonight it changed the game. We knew they were a threat. The second leg will be different and we know what we have to do. Every time we play a team we have to adapt to what there is in front of us. We’re happy to be heading there [to London] and to still be in the tie. We’re going to rest now and get prepared for what’s to come. The message to the fans is that we’re still going strong and will fight until the end.”
Christian Pulisic put Chelsea in front on 14 minutes. Karim Benzema then hit back for Madrid on 29 minutes with a fine finish from close range. In a quiet second half, Madrid improved, after a strong first half performance by the Premier League side.
