Xavi’s Vitor Roque comments could impact his future on Barcelona bench

Recent comments laid out by Barcelona head coach Xavi regarding youngster Vitor Roque could prove a contributing factor in his eventual dismissal.

That’s according to Marca, who have this weekend provided an insight into the situation.

It is of course now common knowledge that Xavi’s future in the Barcelona dugout has been thrown firmly back up in the air.

As confirmed by a whole host of sources over the course of the last 48 hours, the Spaniard’s pre-Almería press conference on Wednesday has since given rise to major unrest behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

Xavi is understood to have left Blaugrana president Joan Laporta, as well as a number of other key board members, nothing short of furious.

So much so, that his dismissal with a view to next season is now being taken into serious consideration.

The general consensus, to date, has been that as much came chiefly owing to the 44-year-old’s comments regarding the financial situation at the club, and why it poses a considerable obstacle in Barca’s efforts to keep pace with arch rivals Real Madrid.

This, however, is not all…

As per the aforementioned Marca, Xavi’s statements regarding Vitor Roque have also gone down extremely poorly.

The former midfielder this week suggested that the Brazilian’s January arrival was not planned in advance, with the Brazilian still having some way to go before carving out a regular place for himself in his attacking ranks.

Joan Laporta and co. feel that as much has only served in ‘hurting’ Roque further, after ‘the coach approved his signing and his incorporation in the winter’.
