Xavi: “Barça cannot afford to have another year without trophies.”

Speaking to the press ahead of Barcelona’s final La Liga game against Villarreal, Xavi refused to put a grade on his managerial tenure so far.

In words transcribed by AS, Xavi said: “We have overcome a situation that could have been worse, that’s clear to me. Since the Bayern game, I told the players that we had to compete, and we have. We have grown. I don’t want to give myself a grade because I will be criticised. But we have overcome a critical situation.”

Xavi emphasized that Barça must return to winning silverware next season: “Barça cannot afford another year without winning trophies. Internally, I have already told the players what I think. You have to turn it around for next season.”

Barcelona have secured second position in La Liga this season.
