Xabi Alonso singles ‘complete’ Real Madrid star out for praise after Valencia

Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has moved to lavish fresh praise on Federico Valverde, in the aftermath of the club’s latest outing.

This comes after the Uruguayan continued to shine from his berth as an unorthodox right-back.

“We’re all seeing his level, how complete he is. He’s a complete, total player,” Alonso explained post-Valencia.

Despite Trent Alexander-Arnold having recovered fitness following a recent spell on the sidelines, Valverde was again trusted to fill the right side of Real Madrid’s backline on Saturday night.

The 27-year-old’s remarkable versatility and physical traits have seen him more than make up for a lack of experience in the role courtesy of a string of brilliant individual performances of late.

It is therefore a real possibility that Valverde will remain at full-back when Los Blancos make the trip to Anfield this week.

As much would mean Trent Alexander-Arnold being forced to make do with a place on the bench once more, on this occasion against former club Liverpool.
