Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has on Thursday provided an altogether encouraging update on the wellbeing of a member of his midfield ranks.
The player in question? Eduardo Camavinga.
Midfielder Camavinga has for his part been sidelined since back in April, owing to a muscular injury.
En route to a 1-0 La Liga downing of Getafe, the Frenchman pulled up with a groin concern, which was later confirmed to have brought a premature end to his 2024/25 campaign.
The initial assumption was that Camavinga would likely also be ruled out of the FIFA Club World Cup in the USA.
After reports began to surface in the media that the 22-year-old was ahead of schedule in his recovery over the last week, though, on Thursday, Alonso confirmed the positive news.
Speaking during a press conference ahead of Real Madrid’s meeting with RB Salzburg on Friday, the club’s headmaster explained:
“Camavinga? He’s progressing quickly. He’s spending more and more time with the team on the pitch. We hope to have him soon. He’s a top player, and we need him.”
