Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso is ready to afford a chance to impress to Blancos youngster Joan Martínez, upon his full recovery from injury.
That’s according to Diario AS, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the situation.
Stopper Joan is for his part fresh off a return to training, following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
After being afforded a call-up to Carlo Ancelotti’s Real squad for pre-season last summer at just 16 years of age, the Spaniard subsequently suffered an ACL tear in training.
Joan, in turn, spent the entirety of the campaign on the treatment table, only recently returning to the grass with Real Madrid Castilla.
The expectation is that the youngster will now spend the months ahead plying his trade Los Blancos’ reserve side, in an effort to recover full fitness.
And as alluded to above, keeping a close eye on Joan’s progress will be none other than Xabi Alonso.
