Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold is ready to slot into a starting role in his XI.
Speaking during his latest pre-match press conference on Saturday, Los Blancos’ headmaster was drawn on the possibility of defender Alexander-Arnold featuring from the off against Rayo Vallecano in 24 hours’ time.
As much comes with the Englishman, fresh off a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, having been forced to make do with a substitute appearance against former club Liverpool in midweek.
And Alonso went on to confirm:
“Yes, Trent is ready to start. He has been doing well.”
Alexander-Arnold is for his part of course in the thick of what has been something of an underwhelming start to life in Spain’s capital.
Since arriving as a free agent over the summer, owing to a combination of fitness problems and competition for places, the 27-year-old has managed just three starts between La Liga and the Champions League.
