Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has this week moved to heap praise on a member of the club’s summer recruitment list.
The player in question? Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Defender Alexander-Arnold was of course at last presented as a Real Madrid player in front of the media late last week.
This brought to a close a saga spanning a full year, in the approach to the expiration of the Englishman’s contract terms with Liverpool.
And if the latest comments on the part of the aforementioned Xabi Alonso are anything to go by, then the wait appears to have been very much worth it for Los Blancos.
Drawn on the impending battle for a starting berth at right-back in his squad during a press conference this week, Real Madrid’s new headmaster went on to explain:
“The right-back competition? It’s wonderful. It’s a privilege for a coach. Trent is more flexible. And we’re eager for Dani Carvajal to return. Trent has had a huge impact so far.”
