Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick was on Monday drawn on the prospect of midfield standout Pedri returning to starting duties in the club’s next outing.
This of course comes ahead of a high-profile matchup for the Blaugrana on Tuesday.
Barca are primed to welcome Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid to Catalunya’s capital tomorrow evening, for the 2nd leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final clash between the clubs.
As things stand, the former face an uphill battle in turning things around, trailing by four goals to nil following a one-sided first leg at the Metropolitano.
Barcelona’s hopes of recovering were over the last week boosted by the return to fitness of the aforementioned Pedri, now back available for selection following a muscular injury.
The 23-year-old was introduced off the bench over the weekend, as his teammates made short work of Villarreal at the Camp Nou.
And drawn on the chances of Pedri stepping back into a starting role against Atlético, Hansi Flick had the following to say on Monday:
“Pedri starting? We also have to manage this situation well. This is the moment now, and as you know, we still have many matches ahead, but I know this game is very important. It’s good to have him with us, and then we’ll see how things go.”
