Will Cristiano Ronaldo reach 1,000 goals? Ex-Real Madrid manager has his say

Former Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has this week weight in on Cristiano Ronaldo’s efforts to reach the 1,000-goal mark.

The Italian’s opinion? That there is little doubt that CR7 will ultimately hit his mark.

Ancelotti for his part oversaw Ronaldo’s historic efforts in front of goal during a shared stint in Spain with Real Madrid.

Drawn on the 1,000-goal discussion during an interview with Diario AS (as cited by Fabrizio Romano) this week, the current manager of the Brazilian national team therefore showed little hesitation in responding:

“Cristiano Ronaldo will reach 1,000 goals, for sure! But when he does, he shouldn’t forget to invite me to the celebration of that incredible record.”

Ronaldo’s pursuit of the next great goalscoring milestone has of course long represented a major topic of discussion amongst fans and the media alike.

As things stand, the 40-year-old is just 47 goals shy of the mark, having found the net a frankly incredible 953 times over the course of his career.
