Former Barcelona star Thierry Henry has this week moved to reiterate his bemusement with the high defensive line being utilised by the Blaugrana under the watch of Hansi Flick.
This of course comes after Barca were again badly exposed on the continent on Wednesday night.
After making the trip to Belgium to lock horns with Club Brugge, the Spanish champions were time and again caught out whilst attempting to spring the offside trap.
As much culminated in Brugge rattling off a trio of goals, en route to a 3-3 draw.
Speaking as part of his punditry role on CBS Sports in the game’s aftermath, the aforementioned Thierry Henry therefore made use of the opportunity to criticise his former club:
“We’ve seen it so many times. I think it was last year, against Bayern Munich. You remember, we talked about it the other day, we showed the goal of Harry Kane beating the line, being always on it, because they knew they were playing a high line. Although they won 4–1 on the night, I think, last year, I said that line was suspicious. They need to sort that out, because they’re not going to win in Europe like that.
“So, if you’re a team now, if you didn’t do your due diligence that Barça play a high line & you don’t make the late run, you remember when Dortmund did it to them last year? You can go on goal every single time. Why would you put yourself in this situation, when you’re going to make yourself suffer alone?”
Barcelona, all told, have now failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last nine fixtures across all competitions.
