An explanation for the lack of customary photos of Barcelona star Lamine Yamal signing his new contract with the club has tonight been provided.
The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, and points towards the 17-year-old himself having requested for as much to be postponed.
Wide-man Lamine has of course taken his place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital once more on Tuesday.
This comes after official confirmation was forthcoming that the attacker has committed his long-term future to Hansi Flick’s Barcelona.
As per a statement across the Blaugrana’s website and social media platforms:
‘FC Barcelona and Lamine Yamal have reached an agreement to renew his contract, which will keep him with the Club until June 30, 2031.
‘The player signed his new contract this Tuesday at the club’s offices in a ceremony with FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta; First Vice President Rafa Yuste; and the club’s sporting director, Anderson Luis de Souza “Deco,” among others.’
So, where is the photo ‘proof’ of Lamine putting pen to paper on his new deal?
Generally, upon players signing fresh terms at Barcelona, an accompanying photo of the moment is unveiled to the club’s supporters.
This time round, though, as much was missing.
And the aforementioned Sport have since revealed precisely why:
‘Lamine, a person closely linked to his family, insisted on taking one of the most important photos of his life with the most important people in his family. Among them, his grandmother Fatima, his father’s mother.’
With Fatima having been unavailable to pose for the picture on Tuesday, the Spanish international therefore pushed as much back for the time being.
