An explanation for the lack of game time afforded to Rodrygo in the club’s meeting with Barcelona has been provided.
The name of frontman Rodrygo has of course proven a prominent one in the headlines in Spain’s capital late on Sunday.
This comes after the Brazilian, altogether surprisingly, was not afforded a single minute on the pitch in the season’s final edition of El Clásico.
Rodrygo was forced to sit out last weekend against Celta Vigo, owing to a bout of illness.
After it was assured that the 24-year-old was fit and well again in the buildup to today’s Montjuïc clash, it therefore came as a major surprise when Rodrygo found himself glued to the bench for the full 90 minutes.
Amid ongoing speculation pointing towards a potential summer departure from Spain’s capital for the attacker, the subject of Rodrygo’s absence against Barcelona was in turn put to Carlo Ancelotti post-match.
Real’s headmaster, though, was quick to play the subject down, assuring:
“He hasn’t recovered, he wasn’t feeling good. Zero problems with Rodrygo. He wasn’t at his best after the fever.”
