La Liga champions Barcelona have provided an explanation for the absence of Marcus Rashford from their latest matchday squad.
This comes with the Englishman suffering from a bout of illness.
Barcelona are of course currently locked in action on the domestic front.
In the club’s comeback following the international break, the Blaugrana have welcomed Athletic Club to Catalunya’s capital, for the highly-anticipated Spotify Camp Nou reopening.
Hansi Flick’s matchday squad, in turn, was unveiled on Saturday afternoon.
The aforementioned Marcus Rashford, however, after sitting out training at the Ciutat Esportiva over recent days, was nowhere to be seen.
And as alluded to above, Barcelona have themselves since provided an explanation as to why.
As per a statement released across the club’s website and social media platforms ahead of kick-off at the Camp Nou:
‘Medical announcement: Marcus Rashford will miss today’s match against Athletic Club due to flu.’
