João Félix has been a smart signing for Barcelona. He’s started life in Catalonia well with three goals and three assists in eight games. The signing becomes even better when you hear how little he is costing the Spanish giants.
Félix was put on an annual salary of just £345,000 when he arrived. This equates to £6,635 per-week, which is almost 40 times less than the £250,000 a week contract he was on at Atlético Madrid.
According to Barcelona’s vice-president Eduard Romeu, Félix was desperate to join the club and was willing to take the pay cut to help with Barça’s financial struggles.
The Portugal international was particularly impressive in Barça’s 5-0 thrashing of Royal Antwerp in the Champions League. The skillful forward only played 68 minutes but left the field with two goals, an assist and the match ball.
Félix is one of two João’s who have made an impressive start for Barcelona. João Cancelo has also settled in nicely and the new-look Barca team are yet to lose this season.
